My intention is not to program in a vacuum - I realize that I'll need access to hardware.

I wrote to Creston and asked them about the steps required to attain CAIP status. Their reply:

"We only offer our training courses to authorized dealers and partners."

And so I then asked them what the "Independent" stands for in CAIP. Their reply:

"The independent means that you are authorized by Crestron to use our software but do not work for a Dealer or Crestron.
In order to get training you will need to be affiliated with a dealer or special partner."

And that's why I started this post, seeking CAIP sponsorship......
