I could swear that Jeff B just did an article in CePro about HDMI extenders and why the termination scheme matters. It wasnt so much about A or B and I believe its why Ethereal uses there own standard.

Jeffs article was about the differences between 568 (A or B) -V- Direct Pairs.
Direct Pairs maintain the balanced mode AND have fewer timing errors.
AND is just simpler to do.
