SA/Cisco has never offered discrete power for their units.

Your work-around will work for now. From my understanding there is a new firmware for the boxes that removes the "Power on with power and keypad" from the menu thus removing the option to power ON the box with the FAV button

Leaving the box on all the time doesn't work either as the boxes have a stand-by setting that takes place between 1-3am where if there is no use the box will go into standby mode.

The only good work around is to have an all ON and all OFF macro. This will ensure that the Rogers box is turned on and off at the proper times. I also include a device power button on the interface for these boxes as a fail safe if for some reason the system gets out of sync.
You can't fix stupid
