Also check to make sure you have enough IP addresses available for the play3 to connect. Had this issue last week and thought I would never get things to work, ended up the client's network was out of IP addresses.
You can also try plugging the play3 into the bridge via ethernet to make sure it gets the firmware update, but this will not work if you are out of addresses either.
