No I'm not even using the RF. It's just that I have two in use with extensive programming effort behind them and I want to pick up some spares while these units are still around for when the buttons on the originals start to go. So, I just wanted to know if the i units would work - strictly with IR - as a direct swap for the non-i.
If you are using IR only, then the remotes are identical, and use the same programming. The only difference is when you bring RF into play, which would need a i series basestation. For your use, you'll be fine.
