I have an uncle who is, well, let's just say he's like a 3-year-old child when it comes to using and taking care of things.  He basically drops them on the floor a lot, or hits the keys too hard and breaks them, etc.  My parents are always buying him the cheap jumbo remotes, like this one: [Link: amazon.com]

He's competent enough to use a remote to operate the TV, but he burns through remotes like butter.  We've learned to never let him keep the original remote, as that will be destroyed in a matter of weeks.  Plus, he kind of needs the jumbo keys, too.

We have tried to teach him to take care of things, but he is kind of mentally off, and just doesn't seem to learn.  We let him go without for a while, but then he'll just ruin the buttons on the TV trying to use them.

Anyway, I am looking for a rugged/ruggedized tv universal remote control, able to withstand abuse, and preferably with large buttons.  He is not operating a home theater system, just one TV, so it doesn't have to be fancy (the simpler the better).  We will program it for him to work with his TV, and that's it.

Hopefully it wouldn't be too expensive, but he has already broken two $10 remotes in the two months since Christmas, so at this rate we'd spend $120 on remotes in a year, so if it's really able to withstand some abuse, it might be worth it in this case.

I have tried googling "rugged universal remote control" but have not found anything relevant.  So, I turn to you, dear remote experts!  Have any of you seen something that would work for us?

Thank you,
Chris
