The quote from page 14 of the manual says the siren signal is present when the gate is moving, so, yeah, it does not differentiate between opening and closing. Since the goal seems to be to provide light rather than to inform as to whether someone is entering or exiting, it seems okay to me. Wouldn't you want light when you're entering and exiting?
