@RandyWalters: I use the M1-M2-M3 buttons on my MX-500 virtually the same way, and was hoping I'd be able to do something similar with the colored buttons on the R40. If the macros are function specific, rather than global, it could be a good thing. Instead of tying them up doing just one thing, they can be used as 4 more hard buttons, with a different set of macros, for each activity. This gives you lots of flexibility, and helps you avoid using the 6 screen buttons for anything you need instant access to. This remote is sounding more and more like the one I want.
