That picture of that "chip" is on a small circuit board. It looks to me like all of those parts are surface mounted. I sure hope your de-soldering and re-soldering skills are up to snuff as surface mount parts are a PITA. I think that you are opening up a huge can of worms trying to retrofit that remote! Good luck to you on that! If the board goes in as a complete assembly you might have a better chance.
