I am looking for an RF universal remote that can control my new home entertainment setup. Willing to spend up to ~$300.

Setup: two TVs in same general area, DVD, Apple TV, Receiver, cable box, HDMI 4x2 matrix/splitter, all behind walls (except for the TVs of course)

Things I need to do ... looking for something where these can all be one click buttons to make it happen. Looked at the Harmony 900 and 1100 but not sure if they can do this ...

1) Watch only TV1 (would need to turn receiver on, switch input to sound, turn only tv1 on - both TVs are the same brand and in the same area, switch to right hdmi on tv, switch hdmi splitter to right input source ...)
1a) Watch only TV2
1b) Watch TV1 and TV2 (same source - both from cable box)
1c) Watch TV1 and TV2 (different sources - one from cable box and one from direct cable into back of TV - so different inputs)

2) Watch DVD - same variances above - on TV1 only, TV2 only, TV1 and 2 -- added component needing to turn DVD player on, adjust hdmi switch input, play DVD ...

3) Work with Apple TV - same as above - on TV1 only, TV2 only, TV1 and 2

4) Not mandatory since I have an apple TV, but would any of the suggested remotes work with iTunes - meaning can you control iTunes on a PC like an iPod touch can via the wireless network with the apple remote app?

5) Can you customize buttons / background with pictures and wording to handle all the above?

Thanks for confirming what is / is not possible as I really want to get the right remote to handle my setup and needs.

The Harmony 900/1100 can do this.

The 900 is in your budget range.
