I have a Pioneer remote part number 87007621000010-IL that came with my VSX-921 Receiver/Home Theater switch.

(There is a list of setup codes in the manual, which I can post if anyone wants them.)

I'm wondering just how weird this Pioneer remote may be.  In the past, they've shipped some equipment that even programmable universal remotes can't handle.

Does anyone know how "off the wall" this remote might be?  The VSX-921 model has been available for about 1 year.

It's called "Universal", but it does not learn.  The list of devices/brands it supports is fairly broad. They use 4 digit codes, and the first digit matches the device type.  TVs are "0nnn", VCRs are "1nnn", DVDs are "2nnn", "CDs and cassettes are "5nnn", cable/satellite is "6nnn".

What I'd really like to hear is that someone has analyzed the IR frequencies (tell me its IR 40KHz, please!) and obtained the code sequences for Pioneer device esoteric functions like "Auto Surround Sound".

With that, I can build a file for my programmable URC, I hope...

This would be a start for
