I use variables on the power of the TV. Even with discretes.
I include power on with each choice from the WATCH page.
If the TV was off, I get a page jump to a "Please Stand By" screen while the TV warms up. Usually 5-7 seconds. If the variable has the TV as already on, the customer doesn't see any delay.
