Hold on to your reigns. Even though I am not very partial to Sony audio, it's not just Sony with the lip sync problem. I own a older Pioneer DV505 and I have the same problems you mention with your Sony's. I was at a repair shop talking to one of the repair men about the problem. He was very aware of the lip sync problem. Maybe the companies were using the same chip you mentioned that needed replaced and now newer generations are using a different one. Anyway be carefull calling Sony tech support. Its costing you $2.00 per minute. If you can believe it.
