A lot has been said about the CM4228 only receiving UHF. From my experience in North York (I do have a preamp), the CM4228 has received CH 9 and CH 11 quite adequately. I do on occasion receive the Rochester stations and WBBZ (CH 7 VHF I believe). Roch stations or VHF 10 and 13 I believe.
Before rushing out to buy a VHF antenna, try improving your setup with a rotor or perhaps a better pre-amp. You did say you were going ahead with the rotor.
