it makes sense that a manufacturer would create one numbered list of inputs and assign them to different things, rather than one list for IR and a different list for 232. So I say, yeah, go for the same input number.

If you want answers to questions, though, it's best to start your own thread when your subject doesn't match the thread you're looking at. In this case, people interested in NOT your TV will be here, and people with an interest in your model will have no idea that you're asking something they might know. You can post, which means you can start a thread.
