So few products in the market can actually be considered "waterproof" that the term is used loosely. There is also many grades of resistance. I wouldnt wear some watches that are called water resistant on a humid day. Since URC advertised this remote actually drenched in water, forgive my assumption.  I was not given any specifics as to the tests that were performed and can only go on the picture of the remote soaked. Let me make a blanket statemen and assume anything you see that can be used in a wet environment is not "waterproof" unless it is very expensive, heavily tested and heavy duty scuba products.
