I can't program the RCA digital converter (DTA800B1) remote control to adjust the volume or power on/off for our Toshiba television model:32af43. I tried all the 3-digit codes provided in the RCA manual.

I also cannot program a GE Universal remote CT90157 for the same television. Any suggestions?

The original remote for the TV won't work either. I'm beginning to think that perhaps the problem is in the television's reception of the remotes. (Is that possible - I know NOTHING about how these remotes and the television receiver work.)
