Try to contact CFTO and see what they say. Give them your equipment model , hopefully they know the answer, maybe someone with the same equipment already asked them. Maybe there is a firmware update for your "standalone unit" (actual make/model would have been more helpful, oh privacy!, lol) that will address how to handle this scenarios, try contacting the manufacturer. I know at least 6 different units that are working fine with CFTO HD.
