I am a pro audio installer who getting into control. I am would like to begin learning more on the side of creating devise drivers and more customizable systems (I can't afford to wait around for others to develop what I need.) So my question is what are some suggestions as far as a useful language to begin learning?

I know that many brands use different languages from Java to C+ and C# and I am hoping for some guidance as to what one would be the most beneficial.

I am familiar with the RTI products and a bit with the Xantech commercial line of touchpanel remotes, and have looked a bit into Stardraw Control, however I am open to other touch panel remote control options.
