I have a Sony RM-VL600 and an older Phillips Magnavox TV/VCR combo and I'm having a hard time getting it to work. It's hooked up with one of those small Comcast black boxes, not the big one, but the auxiliary one.

I don't have a need for the VCR piece, only the TV. Using the Sony remote, I am able to change the channel and volume on the TV (not the cable box). However, I cannot mute the volume or turn it on/off. The Comcast remote that comes with the cable box (a little black one) is also unable to turn the TV on/off but it can mute it.

Could someone please help me out? I've entered in a Magnavox remote code and a Philips TV code but neither help. If the Comcast remote's power button worked I'd be happy, or if the Sony's mute/power buttons worked I'd be happy.
