9 Movies That Make Blu-ray 3D Fun for the Family
By Rachel Cericola
Here are nine reasons why a 3D TV setup might be the perfect last-minute gift for your family.

There is no better time of year to gather around the tube for some good, old-fashioned family fun. How much more fun would this year’s movie marathon be in 3D? Not only has equipment come down in price, but we’re seeing a slew of movies finally become available for general release.

Of course, there are plenty of family films that probably aren’t worth a rental, let alone the premium price of Blu-ray 3D disc (Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore instantly comes to mind).

Despicable Me
Toy Story 3 aside, this was the biggest family film of the summer. Toy Story didn’t come out on Blu-ray 3D, but this one did, making it a complete no-brainer. Steve Carell lends his voice as the sinister super-villain Gru, whose fiendish plots are thwarted by a trio of cute orphans (and sometimes his equally cute Minions). Overall, the film doesn’t have a ton of 3D action, but it’s a good movie—and it actually looks great on Blu-ray 3D.
