Lots of phono preamps are available, both on ebay and by googling the term.
The new equalization systems do go for best fidelity, and if you're like most of us, you might want to tweak the "tone controls" a bit beyond that. There's no good solution for that -- even if you get an outboard equalizer, it would only work for you on analog inputs, where your surround can't be better than ProLogic.
