Top TV Trends for 2011

2010 is not yet over, but it's time to start thinking about 2011.

This is the time of year when we look back at what happened the previous year and begin to think about what will happen next year. By next year, I mean the Consumer Electronics Show. Yes, here I’m making my guesses as to what will be the hot trends for television in 2011.

While I have no definitive insider information (well, maybe a little) of what’s going to be revealed next month in Vegas, I’ve been pretty good as guessing in past years. Some of these items are more wish lists level then real expectations, and some of them fall into the “duh” category, but it’s fun to speculate anyway.



So as you browse through these possible trends, let me know what you expect to come out of TV manufacturers next year and what you’d really like to see if you could build it yourself.

Social Networking on TV
Some TV watching naturally becomes a social activity. Sports can be like that, or must-see shows and TV parties, but only if there are other people in the room with you. If you wanted to move beyond the social landscape of your sofa while watching TV, you needed a have a laptop on your, well, lap. With social network sites like Facebook and Twitter integrated into the TV, you can watch a program and post about it without taking your eyes off the screen.
