Device: Sony EX500 series LCD TV with RM-YD034 remote
OFA: URC-8820 B00

I'd like to replicate the functions of the Sony remote with my trusty 8820, which has been a fabulous servant for 5 years now, and not too shabby for the $6 it cost. I don't know how they did the screen printing on the keys, but they still look fresh, while I've had many factory remotes fade or lose their labels after a similar period.

The OFA manual lists the following device codes: 1100, 0000, 0810, 1904, 0111, 0080, 0834, 1925, 1751. I've tried them all and while a few fail outright, the rest seem to cover most of the basic functions well enough. The codes using five digit EFCs seem to work better, but I'm open to suggestion.

In digging through the EFC database at the JP1 site, I've played with a few of the device codes but am still having trouble matching up a few keys.

The Sony remote is pretty sparse to begin with, but there are a few keys that don't seem to have corresponding EFCs in the database:

Scene
Favorites
Tools
Return

The first three may be too new for the code database, but I'm also having trouble determining the equivalents to the CC and Return keys.

I've tried substituting Exit for Return, but it doesn't work, with no acknowledgement from the TV whatsoever (no blinking from the TV's LED).

The CC key is odd. Using the CC EFCs, the command that is sent will result in the TV either responding by saying that it's an unsupported function, or a function only available with analog channels (when tuned to a QAM HD signal).

It seems that the CC command sent by the EFC is different from that of CC command of the factory remote, which works to change CC modes while tuned to the same channel as above.

I have found working equivalents to the Wide (aspect ratio) and Dot (dash) subchannel keys.

There is a device file for this model available at the JP1 site, but I don't own a cable.

If the EFCs don't exist, I guess I can have the keys replicated through learning, but it's not worth it to me to buy a cable just for a few minor issues.

Just thought I'd check here first. TIA.
