All of the available software is at hifi-remote.com.

I recommend that you use RMIR, since it is the latest software and the one which is getting most of the development attention.

Just for history, originally the task of taking IR signals and converting them to data that can be used by a protocol executor (a subroutine in the remote) was done in the Excel spreadsheet called KeymapMaster, and the task of organizing and uploading the data to the remote was handled by IR.exe.

Later the development of the Java program RemoteMaster was undertaken, and its primary role was to replace KeymapMaster.  Over the last couple of years, IR.exe was also significantly enhanced.

At present, the primary developer of IR.exe has joined forces with the primary developer of RemoteMaster, and RMIR is a single program which does everything.

Make sure that you get a cable intended for JP1.3 remotes (also called flash remotes).  You can make one yourself which attaches to a serial port, but I recommend buying one that can plug into a USB port, and IMO the one to get is made by Tommy Tyler.

The USB chips in it are made FTDI, and are natively supported by Windows Vista and 7.  FTDI have drivers which work with Linux and Macs.
