FWIW:
This probably came from someone that was "Old School" with regards to repairing TV's and such.
I knew a guy down in Miami that actually opened up the old TV's in his backyard and used a hose to clean the years of dirt that had accumulated in them.
Hosed them down, let them air dry, and then took them into the shop for repair.
Sounds crazy, but he was VERY busy with lots of happy customers....
