Sorry if this is a silly question or I'm in the wrong place, but I’m trying to figure out how to “learn” remote signals coming off a very simple RF remote (speed up/down is all it supports) and send those signals from a laptop controlled device.

I’ve done similar things using equipment like the USBUIRT with Girder for IR remotes which was pretty straight forward, however the world of RF seems to be considerably more proprietary.

The longer story is I’m trying to create a little application that allows me to make workout routines for my Endless Pool – yeah, I know… nerd alert. They have a little RF remote that has a simple up/down button to fiddle with the flow speed but you have to stop, stand up, grab the remote and fiddle and then get back into the stream to swim some more. I’m keen to be able to create little workout sets for various routines and have it change speeds automatically with accompanying visual signals (I’m thinking simple light flashing here). Probably more than you wanted to know, but the up shot is I only need to really send two signals (up and down). I had thought something like this would be pretty simple but it’s proving to be trickier than I hoped.

The manufacturer blew me off when I asked if they had details on their remote signals – no too surprising I guess. So I need to figure out how to capture “up” and “down” and then send those signals on command.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to go about such a thing?

Thanks much.
