Three very different albums in the current UK top 40 chart are not bad but don't get too much radio play so its people buying the albums through word of mouth and people getting into the tunes that way.
Hasn't that always been the case? The radio one that I remember (more music than waffle) generally used to concentrate on the more main stream pop; e.g. Fluff Freeman's "Pick of the Pops". It was only the likes of Anne Nightingale, Alexis Corner, Bob Harris and latterly John Peel (though some of the stuff he played was well weird) that took a look at the not so main stream albums.
