Just to add to this a bit. I followed the instructions. Installed the Mobile Device Center and all the rest. This was all before I actually had my remote in hand.

Remote arrived today. I plugged it in, the Mobile Device Center app started, my MX-980 connected, CCP was happy. No big deal, right?

Except I use Linux. I have a Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit guest installation in a VirtualBox VM on a 64-bit linux host. Works like a dream and I don't have to boot to Windows natively to program my new remote. This is nice. :)

I fully expected I'd have to boot to Windows to program the remote. Thanks to the other nerds here that figured this all out and made this part of my life easier. :)
