This definitely works, I was having all sorts of trouble getting my MX-980 to work under W7 64-bit, and this was the answer...I didn't even make the connection that the remote going to sleep was what was causing the disconnects while trying to install (the wrong) drivers at the time.
Never would have thought a basic Microsoft driver would have done the trick either.
