We can make the JP1 stuff pretty easy here, because your situation isn't complicated. Ordinarily you'd need to use RemoteMaster to setup an upgrade, and IR.exe to upload it into the remote, but for this you can just use IR.exe plus the codes I'll post here.
Is your JP1 cable made by Tommy Tyler, and it is it a JP1.2/1.3 cable (has a red and green LED)?
You need to
download IR.exe, and if you're using XP, download the
FTDI VCP 2.06.00 drivers. With Vista or Win 7, the FTDI drivers are built in to the OS.
Once IR.exe is started, download from your remote and save the results (so if ncessary, you can restore the remote to where you started.)
Then click on the Devices tab, click add and paste in the following:
Upgrade Code2 = 51 40 (Amp/0320) NAD 712 (RM v1.98)

Paste in everything from Upgrade through End and then clci OK.
On the General tab, assign 0320 to Audio or CD.
Then upload to your remote.
The codes posted here are for a NAD 712, but it appears that all NAD receivers use basically the same codes. Here are the assignments of functions to buttons:
