I think that resolving whether the AVRs we use in our jobs just pass through HDMI or create a new signal is very important. I would be surprised if you honestly did not believe so, as well.

Several times in the past, I tried to resolve this through forum discussion, but was unable to overcome inconsistencies in the conclusions that were being reached. Each of those times, I let the issue ride.

When I saw an opportunity in this thread to try and resolve this for once and for all, I went for it. I may have pushed it too far. I don't know. I feel very close to having an answer. It's not worth alienating myself from this community, however, which I very much value participating in. I'll leave this alone for awhile.
