| About Me: | My remote model is Home Producer 8 IR/RF Learning with RF Command Center. Remote model number is URC-9800B01.
It seems to have been made around 1999, as this is when the manual is copyrighted. Five years ago, when I first received this remote as a second hand gift, the phone support line went to One For All. Now, the only support is via email.
Remote number two is a Radio Shack 8 In One IR only Catalog Number 15-2116, which was bought in 2005. The entire surface is that soft rubber. The keypad light was never used much, and although the "Lite" on/off button never went bad, the light itself dimmed to nonexistence in only a couple years.
An interesting tidbit about both remotes...
They were stored for four years wrapped in plastic. When they were unpacked, the rubber on both of them had become sticky and oily-gooey. Wiping the older one a paper towel damp with rubbing alcohol removed all the sticky, but it removed most of the rubber feel too. Wiping the newer one with water did not remove all the sticky. I will try the water again before I try alcohol on that one. |
