I'm having some trouble coming up with any working codes for an AKAI TV/DVD combo. I went to the cable company and tried the 15 or so codes they had. I've been to various sites that had codes listed for it (all different by the way), but none have worked. I went through the search procedure but gave up after a fruitless 45 minutes of pushing buttons. Just trying to get the remote to power the TV and handle volume. That's it. ANybody?

I have all of the code info for Akai TVs, so I can look up your TV if you post the model number. However, these are generally new codes so you shouldn't typically expect to find a match in a universal remote. However, the Atlas 5 is a JP1 compatible remote, so if you were to get yourself a JP1 cable, you could load the code that you need into the remote. You should be aware, however, that there are several different versions of the Atlas 5 out there, some of which require require a regular JP1 cable, and some of which require a different JP1.x cable.

I don't have an exact match on that model number, but I'm going to guess that that's a match for my upgrade #9 which uses the NEC1 protocol with a device code of 64 and 189. I just checked that against my list of UEI setup codes (which is what the Atlas 5 uses) and there isn't a match (in this remote or any other UEI remote), so the only way you would get the Atlas 5 to work this TV is if you added the code yourself using JP1. Here's a link to the Akai TV codes if you decide to go this route (use #9) ... [Link: hifi-remote.com]

Actually, they published it on their website, which is more that what a lot of manufacturers do: [Link: akaiusa.com]In case you don't know how to make use of that document, basically, it is a subset of what Robman links to in the post above yours. As he said, there is no built in code in Atlas 5 remote that uses the protocol specified in that document, but you can upload the upgrade that Robman links to by using a JP1.2 cable to connect your remote to a computer.
