Anyone had a chance to try out Brent's new AC product yet? [Link: etherealhometheater.com]I'm going to order one to try, but a couple of thoughts for you, Brent: - a recessed outlet would have been have been really nice, to better aid in mounting this behind wall-mount displays - I'd really like to see you folks extend this product to include a non-surge protected module with inlet _and_ outlet (similar to Panamax's (overpriced, imho) in-wall "extension cord" product; this way one can consolidate AC protection for all A/V components in a single location/box. Do you folks have any plans to do this? Question, Brent - how does this product compare (in terms of protection provided) to, say, Furman's AC215 (model?) low-profile power strip, that's meant to attach behind a wall-mount display? Also ... what's your ETA on your component-style (rack-mountable) power protection pieces?

Furman unit is (I think) mainly a surge with limited Noise filtration. Also ... what's your ETA on your component-style (rack-mountable) power protection pieces? Should be in stock by X/Mas. Netark: I am thinking about coming to SF in Feb. to help Paul (Parasound) do some Pediatric Cancer Unit A/V systems, maybe we can get together then.

Give me some ideas Pretty straightforward - just like the Panamax 2g in-wall outlet ... the single outlet is recessed ~1"
Should be in stock by X/Mas. Great - I've been waiting for this, will definitely want to order a unit to compare/contrast w/Panamax, who we use now. Netark: I am thinking about coming to SF in Feb. to help Paul (Parasound) do some Pediatric Cancer Unit A/V systems, maybe we can get together then. Sure thing, would be good to meet you - is the A/V setup a charity sort of thing? If so, and you could use another body or two, lmk and I'd be glad to help!

Brent, Another option would be to sell right angle power cords for flat panel TVs in various lengths. Somthing low profile on the male end(under 3/4"), and in 1.5', 2', 3' lengths etc. Make them in two grades, cheap(under $20msrp) and good(over $20). I know that I hate having to coil up 6' of power cord behind a plasma and often sell shorter power cords for them. Problem is, no one makes them in right-angle/low-profile, thus the need for a recessed outlet. Jason

We usually use the Panamax Max 2 series for behind the panels (When not "home run" back to the equipment location". This rids the need for a "clock outlet", or a right angle cord. Clock outlets arent cheap either, so for not much more, you add surge protection.

No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall. www.customdigitalinc.com |

Give me some ideas Clock outlet. This idea burned me once, though -- do any display manufacturers use right angle power plugs? A client who bought his own got a Sony (I think) that had a right angle plug, and we had stylishly installed a clock outlet, which the plug would not fit into. For universality, I think a clock outlet is a bad idea and there is generally enough room behind a display for a power plug.

I do not like the small Plate and crappy mounting technique Panamax has on their MIW-POWER. BrentM, is yours filled with MOVs and a Coil?

I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other. |

BIG Giant MOV and a coil. Here is the Data on the PS Power branded version (ours has a smooth front plate). [Link: psaudio.com]Both versions come with the US made Hubbel outlet. The white back box is there for ETL certification and can (IMHO should) be removed when the unit is mounted into the 2G box.

Follow up question for Brent and others ... are there any issues with plugging in a line conditioner/surge suppressor to another of the same? Say, for instance, I spec the "super outlet" as the main power for a media room's electronics, but then also install a Panamax 5300 (or one of your upcoming products) ... any issues with such? More generally, what if a Panamax-type unit is plugged into another Panamax-type unit? To me this latter example seems a bad idea, though I can't rightly say why.

I have opened this thread twice now, hoping to find the Super Outlet where Ethereal products are sold at a deep discount. You know, an outlet store. What a disappointing thread.
