André du Fresne's 3D ProntoPro
Since I'm not so much into illustrating but pretty much into 3D modeling, here it is, a complete 3D-styled CCF from Germany, including a whole bunch of TV and Cable logos, featuring Potatoe Pete who guides you through the remoting procedure. Almost all buttons are true 3D and have an active / inactive status. My favourite panel is the DVD menu screen (with a simulated 4-way joystick).

André du Fresne's Pronto Setup
A German CCF that is mostly frame-based, so that you have a Nav-Bar on the top of the screen. With this you can easily switch to other devices. Furthermore, there are German broadcast logos including the new Premiere-World Logos.

Contest Entry #28: Retro Gold
GRAND PRIZE WINNER! Unlike my TSU6000 CCF, this PCF can be easily modified with only basic knowledge of graphic editors like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro. It makes excessive use of transparent PNG graphics as well as multiple jumps. Thus, there are two simulated joysticks and an antique-style lever for VCR transport, including a record protection latch! The station logos can be replaced within minutes since they are simple bitmpas lying underneath a transparent button frame.

Furthermore, there are controls for PVR, tuner, CD, lights and receiver. The welcome screen features animations and a help screen for both users and developers. Play with it and enjoy!

Contest Entry #02: Prototypes
GRAND PRIZE WINNER! The idea behind Prototypes is: how might a hard-buttoned remote control look if it were designed specifically for watching TV, DVD or PVR?

Change stations from an elegant chrome sphere placed on your couch table, control your DVD player via a device that is quite similar to today’s business phones, or switch your PVR with a PDA-like gadget. Or wouldn’t a keychain remote control for your receiver be pretty cool?

Prototypes features elegant near-photorealistic graphics, dynamic transitions, help screens for every device and intuitive navigation. If you don’t own a TSU9600 to test this on, please don’t only watch the graphics on the simulator, but take a peek at the full resolution graphics.

I hope you like this design – any feedback would be gladly appreciated!

URC MX Graphical Series

Contest Entry #11: Jade@MX-3000
Second Place Winner!
I am proud to introduce you to my Jade@MX-3000 configuration file.

Some key facts:

  • Almost 350 original graphics
  • Some 60 variables
  • About 330 Aliases / Macros
  • Hybrid navigation: Either via tapping the screen or by using the cursor keys
  • Full-working Tic-Tac-Toe, including win/lose recognition
  • Nearly all buttons with ON / OFF status
  • Animated screen changes
  • 4 devices (TV, VCR, DVD, AMP) plus Status and Game screens.
  • Interactive HELP screens for all devices.

With this configuration, I wanted to push the MX-3000 variable capabilities to the limit. By doing so, the remote always knows, which state the devices are in, no matter what you do. The main selection page lets you choose whether to watch TV, DVD or VCR. Go to the AMP screen to change inputs or soundfields etc. Selecting STATUS lets you view and change the state your devices are currently in. You will also find four preprogrammed sleeptimers there. And finally: a GAME for two, the classic game of TIC-TAC-TOE. In the main selection you can navigate either by tapping the desired action/device or - for ultimate convenience - use the... (more)
