New internet-programmed remote control
Gemini's new PROmote remote control is one-of-a-kind, with its exclusive wireless Internet programming technique. Here's how it works: users log into a website and select what devices they have. Once that's completed, they point their remote at the screen and click "Program". Digital light bars flash on the screen, and in two and a half seconds the remote is fully programmed and ready for use. In addition to programming the remote, the website also has the capability to record and remember user profiles, making reprogramming the remote exceptionally easy. The new remote controls 6 devices, including TV, VCR, SAT, CD plus two audio devices, and includes 34 buttons. The PROmote will be available at a suggested retail price between $29.99 and $59.99 and was awarded with the Innovations Award at the 2001 CES show.
