Sony RM-AV2500 Quick Programming Guide (2)

Note that all settings are saved by pressing [Commander Off].

Changes Sony Power On Setting
[Commander Off] + [Volume-] + [Component Select]
Press once to enable the transmission of a Sony-only “Power On” discrete code whenever that device is selected. The LCD will show [POWER ON] on the top right. Press again to disable this feature - the LCD will show just [POWER].

This feature cannot be combined with any other Component Select-based feature.

Copies a Component to Another Button
[Commander Off] + [New Component Select], [Old Component Select] + [New Component Select]
To copy the [CD] device to the [VCR] button, press [COMMANDER OFF] plus [VCR], then hold [VCR] and press [CD]. The newly copied component name will flash on the top of the screen, alongside the hard button’s true label, which will appear solid.

If the remote beeps twice and flashes “NG”, the component you are copying to contains a macro or learned signal and must first be completely reset.

LCD Timeout Setting
[Commander Off] + [Channel+] + [Volume-]
Using the numeric keypad, select the number that corresponds to the screen timeout you would like – [1] for 10 minutes, [2] for 20 minutes, and so on. The number that does not flash represents the current value.

LCD Backlight Timeout, Brightness & Auto-On Setting
[Commander Off] + [Light]
To set the timeout, use the numeric keypad to select the number that corresponds to the backlight timeout you would like – [1] for 10 seconds, [2] for 20 seconds, and so on. The number that does not flash represents the current value.

To set the brightness level, use the [UP] and [DOWN] buttons to select the desired brightness level. There are 11 available settings.

To set the auto-on mode, press the [OFF] key in the upper-right corner of the screen. Press [1] to have the backlight come on only when you press the [LIGHT] button, or press [2] to have the light come on automatically upon any button press (except for volume and channel). The number that does not flash represents the current value.

Beep Tone On/Off
[Commander Off] + [Muting]
To enable the beep tone, press [Muting] + [Volume+]. “ON” will appear on the display.

To disable the beep tone, press [Muting] + [Volume-]. “OFF” will appear on the display.

Changes Volume Control Setting
[Commander Off] + [Volume+] + [Volume-]
Each time this button combination is entered, the setting toggles between “TV/Amp” or “Amp”. If the word “TV” appears on the LCD, all visual devices will use the television’s volume controls and all audio devices will use the amplifier’s volume controls. If “AMP” is shown, all devices will use the amplifier’s volume controls.

Note that this setting will not work with learned volume controls. You may also override it via aliases.

Transmits or Receives Data
[Commander Off] + [Channel-] + [Volume-]
To transfer all information to another RM-AV2500, first press the [UP] (send) button. Then press the [1] key. When the receiving remote is ready (see below), press the [ENTER] button to begin transmission. As information is transmitted, the corresponding component name disappears on screen. If the transfer fails, “NG” will flash.

To receive all information from another RM-AV2500, first press the [DOWN] (receive) button. Then press the [1] key. To begin waiting to receive data, press the [ENTER] button. If “NG” flashes the remote must first be reset: press [CLEAR], followed by [OK], then try [ENTER] again. As information is received, the corresponding component name appears on screen. If the transfer fails, “NG” will flash.

To transfer one component to another RM-AV2500, first press the [UP] (send) button. Then press the [2] key, followed by the component you would like to send. When the receiving remote is ready (see below), press the [ENTER] button to begin transmission. When the information is transmitted, the selected device name will disappear on screen. If the transfer fails, “NG” will flash.

To receive one component from another RM-AV2500, first press the [DOWN] (receive) button. Then press the [2] key, followed by the component button you would like to transfer to. To begin waiting to receive data, press the [ENTER] button. If “NG” flashes the component must first be reset: press [CLEAR], followed by [OK], then try [ENTER] again. When the information is received, the selected device name will disappear on screen. If the transfer fails, “NG” will flash.

Locks the Remote from Changes
[Commander Off] + [Muting], [Power]
All of the RM-AV2500’s setup options can be locked from change by pressing the upper-right (normally [Power]) key until it flashes “ON”.

To unlock remote setup, repeat the procedure until the upper-right key reads “OFF”.

Locks the Remote from Use
[Commander Off] + [Power] (Upper Right LCD Key)
To lock the remote, enter the above button combination. When the remote is locked, the word “OFF” will appear in the top right of the LCD and it will do nothing until the lock is removed.

To unlock the remote, repeat the procedure.

Calibrates the Screen
[Commander Off] + [Menu] + [Exit]
Press each of the four target dots as they appear in the outer corners of the screen with a pointy object, such as a stylus or tip of a pen. End the process by pressing the square that appears in the middle.

Resets the Remote to Factory Defaults
Note that this will remove absolutely all programming – use with caution!
Remove at least one battery from the remote. Now, while holding the [VOLUME-] and [CHANNEL-] keys simultaneously, re-install the batteries and then release those two keys. The remote will display “OK” on screen and flash the transmission icon continually. Again, remove at least one battery, re-install it, and the remote is cleared.
